Consider hardwood when the natural material and available finish are central to the room. Look at the sample alongside flooring and trim, and review the care instructions for the exact shutter.

Composite shutters

Composite shutters offer a wood-like appearance with different construction. Compare the sample with hardwood and ask which option suits the moisture and care needs of your room.

Plan the panels around the room

A shutter needs space to open.

Tim checks trim depth, handles, nearby furniture and the direction of each panel before recommending a frame.
On a wide opening, discuss how many panels you want to move and where they will sit when open.

Compare the view with the louvers open

Louver size changes the spacing of the view and the appearance of the window.

Ask to see open and closed positions on a sample.
A divider rail or separate upper and lower sections can offer different control, where the selected configuration allows it.

Choose for the actual room conditions

Tell Tim about direct sun, humidity or splashes near the window.

A bathroom or kitchen may need a different material from a dry living room.
Interior plantation shutters provide light and privacy control; they are not a substitute for rated storm protection.

A price for one window shape or frame style may not transfer to another.

Hardwood or composite: which should I choose?

Neither is automatically best for every room. Compare appearance, construction, moisture exposure and care requirements using the specific products in your quote. Tim can help you decide where each material makes sense.

Can shutters work on sliding glass doors?

A track-based layout may be suitable, subject to the opening and available clearance. Plan how the panels will stack or slide and whether the door remains easy to use. See our sliding-door guide before the consultation.

Can shutters fit arched or unusual windows?

The shape and manufacturer options determine what can be made and how it will operate. Bring a photo of the opening; final design requires an on-site measurement.

Will shutters darken a bedroom completely?

Closed louvers reduce incoming light, but gaps around louvers and frames can admit light. If room darkening is your main goal, compare blackout shades and their mounting options as well.

How long will my order take?

Tim will confirm production and installation timing for the selected product before you place the order. Custom shapes, finishes and order size can affect the schedule.
