Cellular & Honeycomb Shades — Southwest Florida

Cellular and Honeycomb Shades for Southwest Florida Homes

Cellular shades — also called honeycomb shades — are the most energy-efficient window treatment available, and they are an excellent investment for Southwest Florida homeowners who want to reduce cooling costs. Their distinctive honeycomb cell structure traps air between the window and the room, creating an insulating barrier that reduces heat transfer in both directions. At Expressions in Window Fashions, we carry cellular shades in single-cell, double-cell, and triple-cell configurations — all custom-made and owner-installed by Tim Bustos.

Single-Cell, Double-Cell, and Triple-Cell Options

Single-cell cellular shades have one layer of honeycomb cells and provide good light filtering and privacy. Double-cell shades have two layers of cells and provide significantly better insulation — ideal for rooms with large windows or direct sun exposure. Triple-cell shades have three layers of cells and provide the maximum insulation value, making them the best choice for rooms where energy efficiency is the primary concern. All configurations are available in light-filtering and blackout fabrics.

Top-Down, Bottom-Up Cellular Shades

One of the most popular cellular shade features is the top-down, bottom-up (TDBU) option. TDBU shades can be lowered from the top to let in natural light from above while maintaining privacy at eye level, or raised from the bottom to let in light from below while blocking the view from outside. This feature is especially popular in bathrooms, street-facing windows, and any room where you want both natural light and privacy simultaneously.

Motorized Cellular Shades

Cellular shades are available with battery-powered or hardwired motorization. Motorized cellular shades are ideal for large windows, high windows, and rooms where you want to adjust multiple shades simultaneously. They integrate with all major smart-home platforms and can be programmed to lower automatically during the hottest part of the day to reduce cooling costs.
