Battery-powered systems
A compatible battery system can avoid running a new power cable. Plan where the battery sits and how it will be reached for charging or replacement.

Remotes and connected controls
A remote may be all you need. If you want an app or voice control, confirm the motor, hub and platform compatibility as part of the quote.

Plan power before installation
A tall window may be easy to operate remotely but difficult to reach for battery service. Discuss that access during measurement. For wired systems, agree on cable routing and any electrical work separately.
Keep privacy a fabric decision
Solar, light-filtering and blackout fabrics behave differently even when operated by the same type of motor. Choose the privacy and light level first, then check which system supports that fabric and opening.
Confirm what works together
Compatibility is specific to the motor and controller. Do not assume an existing hub or voice assistant will connect. List your current equipment and ask what additional hardware, app setup or network connection would be needed.
Understand everyday use

Can existing shades be motorized?

Do motorized shades need Wi-Fi?
A basic remote-controlled system may operate without Wi-Fi. Connected functions depend on the motor and controller. Confirm the requirements of the selected setup.
How often will batteries need charging?
There is no universal interval. Shade size, motor, battery and use affect it. Ask for the manufacturer guidance and plan access to the battery.
Are motorized shutters included?
Motorized shades and powered shutters are different systems. If you are interested in powered shutters, ask Tim whether a suitable product is available for your opening.
Can I control several shades together?
Selected systems support grouped operation. Confirm the number of channels or groups, remote arrangement and setup included in your quote.
